The time it takes to cure concrete can vary based on factors such as the depth of the pour, the outside temperature and the type of cement mixture. On average, it takes about two to three hours for the concrete to set after pouring, and then seven days to fully cure. The concrete will continue to gain strength up to 28 days after pouring.

Since this material isn't flexible, it is common for concrete to crack during thaws and freezes. This cracking is normal and does not impact the concrete's overall strength. Adding joints or a fibrous product to the concrete can mitigate these cracks.

You measure concrete using cubic yards, or sections 3 feet wide by 3 feet high by 3 feet deep. A single cubic yard of concrete is about 4,000 pounds.

Is Concrete Recyclable?

The recycling process occurs throughout the life span of concrete. Many contractors add industrial byproducts, such as ash, to mixed concrete, which reduces the need for raw materials. You can also recycle concrete at the end of its life span and use it for many projects.
